Any 6th grade student who missed a portion of MCAS should report to Mrs. Gavan at this time. Today, April 12, is the Gay, Lesbian and straight Network’s Day of Silence. This is a student-led national event to bring attention to the bullying, harassment and silencing of LGBTQ+ students at school. In Massachusetts, 59% of LGBTQ+ students report being verbally harassed because of their sexual orientation and 49% because of their gender expression. Unfortunately, we at the Beautiful Mind Campaign believe that bullying and harassment of the LGBTQ+ community are problems here at the Robert Adams Middle School and we intend to change this. Join us to break the silence of LGBTQ+ students here at our school and around the country. Today, you can show that you are an ally and stand up for making our school a more inclusive community by wearing a piece of Rainbow tape on the front of your clothing. You can get your piece of tape from your guidance counselor or a staff member in the cafeteria at lunch. It will be incredible to see all the supportive people wearing tape at the faculty-student basketball game. |
