Safety Drills-Upcoming 2/23 & 2/25

It is ever more important for our staff and students to continuously practice our various school safety drills.  This week we will practice our Intruder Response Drill on Tuesday, February 23 for cohort A and Thursday, February 25 for cohort B.  Additionally, we have created a Safety Drill presentation for ALL remote learners, that is pre-recorded with Officer Woods and Mrs. Beattie.  This video paired with slides provides our “remote” learners some education around safety at school, but also safety at home as remote learners.  We have linked the presentation below for ALL families to view with their students if they choose.

As in previous years, our Intruder Response Drill is discussion-based which is led by staff, in collaboration with the Holliston Police & Fire Departments. During this drill students and teachers will remain in their classrooms, while Mr. Jordan and Mrs. Beattie conveyed over the PA system the importance of practicing these drills and read through 2-3 scenarios that they will elicit problem-solving responses from students with their teachers. The Holliston Police Department, along with Chief Cassidy of the Holliston Fire Department will visit classrooms to lend to the conversations and assist in answering questions. It is anticipated that this drill will last approximately 30 minutes.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Jordan or Mrs. Beattie.

Jr Tech STEM Opportunity

Jr.Tech is committed to inspiring students to think about STEM topics and explore STEM career paths. We are hosting Girls STEM Summit LIVE 2021 in April 2021. This year's Girls STEM Summit LIVE 2021 will take place on two half-day Saturdays: Saturday, April 3rd, and Saturday, April 10th, from 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM, both days. It will be hosted as a live, online, program via Zoom.

The summit is for girls in grades 8-12 who are interested in careers in the STEM fields. As this is a critical time in their education, and college decisions are beginning, we hope to empower these young women to see the many opportunities available to them within STEM.

Please share the attached PDF flyer with your teachers, curriculum heads, guidance staff, and principal to make them aware of Girls STEM Summit Live 2021 and ask them to share with your community.

We invite your high school to purchase a group for your school or have parents register them individually.

Shout out to our MS PTO

We want to thank you for all that you did to pull off our traditional “Middle of the Middle” for our Grade 7 students. While it is always best to celebrate this as an entire grade at lunch, you were able to provide both our remote and in-person learners with a wonderful celebration. Thank you!!

Introductory Physical Science Lab Opportunity-Grade 8 Only

Starting in term 3, March 23rd, we will be offering an introductory physical science lab program open to all 8th grade students that will run as an elective from 1:30-2:33 on select cohort days each week.  Using the IPS curriculum as the foundation, students will engage in rigorous hands-on and authentic physical science lab experiments.

Days Offered:

  • Cohort A: Mondays and Tuesdays; 1:30-2:33

  • Cohort B: Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This offering is an in-person offering only.  If your student is interested in being a part of the program, please complete the IPS Lab Interest Survey.

First Annual Winter Walk & Roll

Our first annual Winter Walk & Roll was a success...even in the frigid temperatures.  Thank you to all those who participated, both staff and students! We had approximately 30 participants on Friday, February 12. We look forward to our Spring Walk & Roll, and we know the numbers will be even bigger!!

RAMS Playlist

We are continuing to bring a little fun to middle school life. We have recently begun creating a student/staff playlist. We LOVE playing your favorite songs as our day kicks off from 7:55-8:10, and other times of transition.  Please continue to add "school appropriate" songs to our playlist.
