Attention Grade 7 Parents: On Monday November 7th, our nursing staff will be conducting vision, hearing, height, weight and postural screening for all students in grade 7.

These exams are mandated by the state. A note from your child's doctor is acceptable to excuse your child from this screening. If your child has any unusual findings, you will be notified and encouraged to take your child to a physician for follow up.

Please contact Catherine Porcello, our school nurse with any questions or concerns that you may have at 508-429-0659 or porcelloc@holliston.k12.ma.us.

Parent Ed Events:

Drugs & Alcohol Abuse presented by Dr. Ruth Potee

Please join us on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00pm at the High School for this Parent Ed event sponsored by HDAAC. The following content presented is suitable for parents/guardians, students, educators, administrators, and community members.

The legalization of marijuana in MA has resulted in mixed messages and confusion about the dangers of drug use. Dr. Potee, a board certified Family Physician and Addiction Medicine Physician, will address this during her seminar, and speak candidly to her audience to inform and educate students and parents/guardians alike. Members of the Holliston Police Department will join Dr. Brad Jackson to answer questions after Dr. Potee’s presentation..

Teaching and Reinforcing Coping Strategies to your child in the home by Victoria Briggs, District BCBA & Leslie Diamandis, School Psychologist grades PreK-3

Please join us on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00pm in the RAMS Multi-Purpose Room, for this Parent Ed event sponsored by the Holliston SEPAC.

Many students of all ages and abilities experience anxiety and stress which may manifest itself in a variety of ways. Children with disabilities often require explicit instruction in coping with stress, fear, frustration and anxiety. Helping your child find the right and developmentally appropriate strategies for them can feel like a daunting task. This seminar will help to provide information on finding the right strategies, teaching and reinforcing those strategies in the home and community settings.

Holliston Music and Arts Parents Association- Fundraiser

Just a friendly reminder that the Holliston Music and Arts Parents Association (HMAPA) is holding their annual citrus fundraiser with orders due by November 3.   Products include navel oranges, pink grapefruit, and mixed cartons, as well as new items - Hamlin juice oranges, mandarin oranges, Washington red delicious apples plus some new combination cartons.   Students in band, chorus, theatre, and art clubs are taking orders and will deliver products.   Proceeds benefit the arts through teacher grants for items such as pianos, guitars, pottery wheels, 3D printer, music stands and music at all Holliston schools as well as scholarships for graduating seniors.

If you don’t know a student, you may order online at www.hollistonmusicandarts.org, and click to order citrus. Choose “ship to organization” for lowest prices and truck delivery to Holliston High School Cafeteria where you must pick up your order.   You may also choose “ship to recipient” at premium prices and direct shipping anywhere in the U.S., no pick up required.   And you may donate to the food pantry and have it delivered by us by choosing “donate item”.  We expect truck delivery to Holliston High School cafeteria during the evening Monday, 12/4, Tuesday 12/5 or Wednesday, 12/6. We will notify you when we have definite date from shipper.

If you have questions, contact Val Ogilvie at www.HMAPAFundraising@gmail.com or (508) 893-9767.   You can also support the arts in Holliston schools by joining HMAPA or making a donation.   Go to our website at www.hollistonmusicandarts.org and click on the membership tab.  Thank you for supporting the arts in our schools by supporting HMAPA!
