Virtual Parent Coffee Talk
Save the date!! Mr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan will be holding their second virtual parent coffee talk. In an effort to expand the school’s ability to communicate in alternative ways with parents, Mr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan will be available in an online forum to answer any questions that parents may have. The virtual coffee talk will be held February 9, 2016 from 6:30-7:30 PM.
Mr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan will be streaming live from here: RAMS Virtual Parent Coffee Talk on February 9th. We encourage parents to use the Google Form embedded on the site to enter in possible topics that Mr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan can start the conversation with while other parents join the talk.
MCAS Spring 2016 Schedule
Please click here to view the Spring 2016 MCAS Schedule for the Robert Adams Middle School. There were some late changes to the testing format from the Department of Education that delayed the release of the schedule. These changes are as listed:
Additionally, we are waiting on further guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on the predicted time of testing for ELA Session 2A and 2B. This may impact whether Session 2A and 2B will be divided into two different testing days, versus the one that is scheduled at the moment.
Holliston High School Shadowing Program
The Holliston High School Shadowing Program is scheduled for the morning of February 10th. This program is intended to give students who may have transition anxiety, or are considering attending a private school or technical school, a preview of Holliston High School. Students who are interested in the program are invited to spend a morning and shadow a high school student through his/her classes.
Eighth grade students who participate are asked to arrive directly to the high school main lobby at 7:25am. There they are paired with a high school student to attend two of their classes and the Designated Study Block (DSB). Transportation will not be provided for those students participating in the program. Students would need to be dropped off at the high school at 7:25 am and picked up at 11:00 am to be brought to the middle school to conclude the rest of their day.
If your student is interested or you have questions about the program, please contact Mr. Powers at email@example.com. This is a prearranged event. Please make sure your student has confirmed with Mr. Powers that he/she will be attending the Shadowing Day before arrival on February 10th so that he can arrange for an HHS student to shadow.
Nature’s Classroom is fast approaching for our 6th graders. We are all looking forward to this wonderful experience. Thank you to all the parents that indicated they were interested in chaperoning for the week. The school will be in contact with those parents before February vacation to inform you whether or not you will be needed.
As a reminder to 6th grade parents, if you were unable to turn in the second payment for the $220 balance by the January 8th due date, please do so as soon as possible.
Midterm Progress and iParent
We are at the midpoint of term 2. If you have not recently logged in to iParent to check in on your child’s progress, we ask that you do so this weekend.
For those, who have not yet registered for an iParent account, please click on this link: iParent Registration and follow the instructions to register for iParent. If you already have an account at the high school, you will not need to register again and were given access to your student’s information when the middle school portal was opened at the end of the first term.
For those who do not have access, we will be sending you hardcopies of midterm supplementary progress reports on Monday, February 8. By third term, our hope is that, similar to the high school, we will be no longer sending home any hard copies of progress reports and report cards.
MS PTSA meetings are every other month on the second Wednesday at 8 am. Meetings are casual and open to all Adams School parents and guardians. Please sign-in with the office and you will be directed to our meeting room. Mark your calendar for future meetings on March 9 and May 11. On March 9, we will hold a face to face coffee talk with Mr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan.
Spring Interscholastics Athletics
We will be opening up registration shortly to 6th, 7th and 8th grade athletes for Spring Track and Field. Practice will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 3:15-5:00 p.m. Our athletes will be bussed daily at 2:50 p.m. to Holliston High School for practice indoors in the HHS Field House and outdoors when available. All Parents/Guardians will be expected to pick up their athletes at HHS at 5:00 p.m. On foul weather days, when the Field House is required by the HHS athletes, the RAMS athletes will practice at the Middle School.
Holliston Plaza- Students on Fridays
Parents, please be aware that there have been some complaints from the tenants of the Holliston Plaza due to student disturbances on Fridays. The greatest concern has been around the number of students in the parking lot while cars are trying to drive through. Additionally, there is a secondary concern around littering. Please engage your child in a conversation about respecting public and private property, cleaning up after oneself, and making safe decisions.
