Nature’s Classroom - GRADE 6
Nature’s Classroom departure day is the Monday after April vacation. As a reminder to parents, MEDICATION FORMS may be sent in earlier than the April 8th due date (everyone must send one in signed whether or not there are any medications) as individual student packets are being assembled for departure day. Parent Ed: Social and Emotional Learning Skills- Dr. Naami Turk
HOLLISTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND HOLLISTON PTSA ARE EXCITED TO BRING YOU DR. NAAMI TURK, Tuesday 3/22, TO TELL YOU WHY SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING SKILLS ARE IMPORTANT TO YOUR CHILD’S LIFELONG SUCCESS
Come find out more about helping children manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions!
After a successful professional development day with our faculty in the fall, we have invited Dr. Naami Turk to share her insights with our parent community!
Holliston Public Schools and HPTSA invite you to join us for an evening of discussion and collaboration as we examine the skills our children need in order to develop social and emotional competence. We will hear from engaging Keynote Speakers as well as panelists from Holliston Public Schools to discuss how these skills can be developed.
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a set of gateway skills that teaches kids and teens how to ‘get along in the world’ so they can meet with success not only in school and home but also in the world around them as they become adults. For more information, please visit the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) Website: www.casel.org

Spring Musical: Disney’s The Little Mermaid
In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World."
Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above and bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
The show is April 1 and 2 at 7pm and April 2 and 3 at 2pm. Tickets are $12 and will be available beginning March 21st at Fiske’s and Coffee Haven and the week prior to the show in the cafeteria. Preview Day (meet the characters) is March 12th at the Holliston Public Library from 11-2 (tickets will be available). There are 75-80 RAMS students in the cast and crew.

PTSA- Basket Raffles
It's March, and that must mean it's time for the annual classroom basket raffles fundraiser! New this year, advance ticket purchases can be made online at www.hollistonptsa.org/raffle. This takes the place of sending home tickets in your children's backpacks. We have so many amazing baskets this year, you won't want to miss out on the fun! Raffle tickets can be purchased online in advance of the event until Sunday, March 13th, or you may come to the event on March 15th or 16th in the Miller Library. You may also pre-purchase "general" tickets online, which will be filled out with your name and phone number and waiting for you the nights of the events, so that you may put them in whichever baskets you choose.
Thanks and we look forward to another fun and successful fundraiser!
MCAS Spring 2016 Schedule
Based on feedback received from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the school has decided to divide Session 2 of the ELA MCAS into two days versus one. This will mean that there will be three days of testing for ELA; Session 1 (April 4), Session 2A (April 6), and Session 2A (April 7). New this year is Session 2B, which will be the Narrative Writing Section of PARCC. The reason for the adjustment is that we cannot reliably predict how long it will take students to complete Session 2A, which has to be completed before starting 2B.
