8th Grade Community Service Day

Our 8th Grade Community Service Day is fast approaching.  It is scheduled for May 23rd.  Community Service Day Letters and Permission Slips will be sent home with students on Thursday.  Please pay attention to the $5 required for lunch, appropriate clothing, the need for equipment, and signed permission slip.  Additionally, we are in need of wheelbarrows, if you have a wheelbarrow that you are willing to loan, Joan Shaugnessy is willing to pick it up and drop it back to your home. Please contact her at

Intruder Response Plan Drill

The students and staff of Robert Adams Middle School in conjunction with the Holliston Police Department will be practicing our final Intruder Response drill for the year on Wednesday, May 30.

The intruder response plan combines elements of our lockdown and fire evacuation plans but is different in that it asks staff and students to independently assess the situation at hand and make a decision that is most likely to avoid potential harm.  Whenever possible, students will look to and follow the directions of teachers and staff in the building. However, there may be instances, where students, after trying to seek out the guidance of an adult, make decisions based on the information that they have at the time.  Some of the options that staff and students will consider might be to hide or evacuate instead of staying in a designated place in their classrooms.

During the May 30th drill, the principal will get onto the intercom and announce the location of an intruder in the building as we would in the event of a real emergency. Teachers will then facilitate a brief discussion with students on what possible actions the class should take based on the information given by the announcement, and then practice those actions.  For the purposes of the drill, the evacuation will resemble that of a fire drill.

Please feel free to email Jessica Beattie,, if you have any questions.  Our schools are safe places and we want all children to know and feel this; however, it is important to prepare for dangerous situations, no matter how unlikely they may be.

Grade 7 Parents- DC Trip Sign-ups 2018-2019

Attention parents of current 7th graders: We (Mr. Perry & Mr. Conant) are excited to have begun our plans for the April 2019 8th Grade Trip to Washington, D.C. This is our second year as co-coordinators and is looking forward to it again! The dates for the next trip will be scheduled during April Vacation from April 14-17, 2019 (Sunday-Wednesday). This trip is a Holliston tradition offered exclusively to our Grade Eight students. We welcome this opportunity for our students to experience Washington, D.C. with their friends and classmates. We hope it will provide many memories along with instilling a sense pride and civic engagement for the students.
On Tuesday, May 1 we are speaking with the 7th graders about the trip. They will be taking home a number of items related to the trip. However, and VERY IMPORTANT-this year we are asking parents to sign up electronically using the Google Form included below. If your daughter/son is planning on attending the trip this needs to be completed at your earliest convenience.
Thank you in advance. Please contact either Mr. Perry or Mr. Conant if you have any questions or concerns.

8th Grade Slideshow

We are going to continue the tradition of an end of year 8th-grade slideshow. This photo montage will feature pictures of your sons and daughters as they have grown up and attended school in Holliston and are soon ready to move on to high school. It will be shown to 8th-grade students in the auditorium one of the last days of school. In addition, we will make this video available to parents who wish to watch it at home and save it as a keepsake.

In order to create the best slideshow ever, we need your help with collecting pictures. We are asking that you submit the following in the next three weeks if possible:

1. A baby or toddler picture of your son/daughter (only need 1 of these)

2. Any photos of your son/daughter with other 8th grade friends throughout the years (the more the better!)

These pictures can be submitted in three different ways:

***These pictures will be shown in HD and should be at least 1 MB. Small images will be blurry and cannot be used.***

***Only digital pictures will be accepted***

Thank you for your assistance with this project. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Adam Steiner at

Grade 8 Dance

The Grade 8 dance is coming up on Friday, June 8 @ 6:30-9:30 pm at the Adams Middle School.  This year’s theme is Coachella.  Tickets for the dance will go on sale in school at lunch during the week of June 4. Cost per ticket is $12.00, and tickets will not be sold at the door the night of the event.  The dress code for this event is casual.

We are in need of a number of decorations, food, and refreshment items for the event and some volunteers to help out on the day/night of the dance. Please explore the Sign Up Genius link and help out if you possibly can.

Any questions, please feel free to reach out to Anne-Marie Reinstein at

Follow four young Athenian lovers and six Rude Mechanicals into Oberon's enchanted woods in which all things, even the impossible, are possible. Shakespeare's glorious comedy is filled with mischief, magic, and mix-ups! How does it all resolve?
