Open Building Presentation

For those parents that were unable to attend our Open Building Presentation for new families, please use the link provided to view that presentation.  In it is a general overview of the life of a middle schooler at Robert Adams Middle School.

First Virtual Parent Coffee Talk

Dr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan will be hosting the first virtual parent coffee talk of the year during the last week of September.  For those of you that are new to Adams, Dr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan host a podcast in an effort to expand the school’s ability to communicate in alternative ways with parents.  For 2016-2017, there will be a monthly podcast that will run for 30 minutes at a time.  Parents will be provided a link to the live broadcast.  On the side of the screen, there will be an area for parents to post live questions to the hosts or guests that they will answer in the order that they come in.

For September, Dr. Botelho and Mr. Jordan will be answering questions and reviewing expectations associated with the beginning of the school year.  The podcast will focus on helping families have the smoothest start to the school year as possible.  Future coffee talks will have special guests to cover a range of potential topics, including but not limited to Social/Emotional Health of middle schoolers, Executive Function/Organization for a middle schooler, and adolescence in a digital age.

At the conclusion of the broadcast, the video will be posted on the school website so that parents that were unable to view the live broadcast can view it in their own time.

It is highly encouraged to view these video.  They are a great source of information about the school.  It also provides parents the opportunity to get involved in the school from the comfort of their home.  Some parents have even used it as a conversation generator with their student, watching the broadcast before dinner with their child.  Parents are then able to ask administrators direct questions about topics that their student cannot clarify for them.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities- Supervision

In the coming month, we will be looking for parent volunteers to help with the supervision of students during lunch.  As a part of our effort to address the social and emotional needs of our students, the middle school will be providing alternative spaces for students to go during lunch.  This may include quiet reading, puzzles, and games in the library, to “Laps at Lunch” where students will be given a chance to walk around a designated space with friends or by themselves.

Directions on how to sign up will be provided later this month.

Chromebook Registration and Distribution

Students received an initial Chromebook training from Adams Steiner, our Technology Integration Specialist, and Mary McNamara, our Network Administrator, this week.  In addition to the initial training, 6th graders will be receiving a more in-depth training next week.  The hope is to have Chromebooks passed out to students next week.

If your student as not turned in the Chromebook Loan Agreement , please do so as soon as possible. All families are required to fill out this document for each of their students regardless if they choose to participate in the optional insurance program.  Please return this document and optional check to the Robert Adams Middle School office or mail to Robert Adams Middle School, 323 Woodland Street, Holliston, MA 01746.  Students will not be issued a Chromebook until the Chromebook Loan Agreement is received.

It is highly recommended that parents participate in an optional insurance program ($40/student/year) to provide coverage in case of loss or damage of the Chromebook.  We encourage families to review the Chromebook Care and Use Guide before signing the loan agreement.  

iParent Portal

In order to access the iParent portal, you will need to register for an iParent account.  If you already have an account for a student at the high school or middle school, you will not need to register again and will have immediate access to your middle school student’s information.

To register for an iParent account, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Access the online registration form: iParent Portal Registration

  1. Fill out the Account Application Form by creating your own User ID and Password.  Please note that you will need your child’s four digit Student ID number to complete the application.  Student ID numbers are the same 4 digits used by students when getting lunch in the cafeteria and logging onto Chromebooks.  If your student does not know their Student ID number, please email the Middle School office at  Please note you must fill in all fields with a red asterisk as well as the “Relationship with Student” field.

  1. When completed, click on “Submit” for approval/activation.  The approval process will begin on August 1st.  You will receive an immediate email confirmation that you applied for an account.  Once your account has been verified and activated, you will receive another email with further login instructions.
