PRIDE at RAMS

As many of you know, June is an important month not only here at RAMS but nationally. June is the month which recognizes PRIDE month and Juneteenth.  As educators it is our responsibility to educate ourselves and our students in events that bring about change, inclusivity, and equity for ALL.

Juneteenth is made up of the words ‘June’ and ‘nineteenth,’ and it is an important day in our nation’s history. On this day, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Texas more than 155 years ago to inform enslaved people that slavery had been abolished.

PRIDE month recognizes the uprising at the Stonewall Inn in June, 1969, sparking a liberation movement — a call to action that continues to inspire us to live up to our Nation’s promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all.

Here at RAMS we are demonstrating our inclusiveness of others through our actions, words, and feelings. Our GSA is educating us each day through visuals, announcements, and ways to take a stand.  We as a school are choosing to hang flags of different cultures and groups, to demonstrate our admiration, support, and acceptance of one another. Please see the links below to find ways you can support others as a family and a community!

Grade 8 Community Service Day & Awards

Due to the nature of the year, we are unable to hold our traditional events, but we would like to end the year doing something fun and special to send all Grade 8 students off for the summer as a RAMS FINAL FAREWELL.  On Tuesday, June 22 we will hold our annual Community Service event, for the morning portion of the day. Following Community Service, we will hold a fun pizza picnic to include a DJ for an extended, fun lunch under the tent and on our field. Ending the day, our 8th graders will return into the building to finish up with a Grade 8 Awards “Zoom style” ceremony.  More information to follow.

RAMS Summer Reading

As we quickly approach the end of the year, we wanted to provide you an opportunity to check out our RAMS Summer Reading Website.  It is important to allow kids to enjoy the freeing nature of summer and relax and unwind, but also encourage reading to continue to expand their learning. Please check out the link below for Summer Reading suggestions!!

Re-Act Players

Dear Students and Parents,

Hope you are all doing well as the year winds down. The ReAct Players (RAMS drama club) was hoping to have a virtual benefit, but unfortunately it was not the right time and registration was low for this event.  However, with not having any performances for over a year, we are eager to get to know you to help us plan for next year. Anyone who is interested in putting together a short (2 minutes or less) video of you either singing (ideally Broadway or Disney songs), acting or both, we would love to see your talent. This video is in no way required to be involved in the shows next year, we just thought it might be a fun way for you to show us your talent! If you are interested, please send your video to both Mrs. Hecker (b.hecker@comcast.net) and Mrs. Abalutzk (abalutzkb@holliston.k12.ma.us) by the end of the school year.  We are excited to start up the ReAct players and look forward to getting to know you all.

All the best,

Mrs. Hecker and Mrs. Abalutzk
